It's really good to finish the day reading a positive message. Although here in Brazil the economy is skyrocketing, the world is so interconnected, specially regarding the tech. market, that a slow USA negatively affects virtually everybody.

Great article, Eric, and very timely. It gives small business owners hope for the present...which is what they really are looking for.

I would especially stress customer service as the most important edge small businesses can grab. I recently worked for a company more interested in volume selling than providing an excellent customer experience. They are not alone in trying to be be a meat market rather than a day spa. To save money, everything gets standardized, so you get more people reading from scripts, form letters for every little thing that can go wrong and automated voice messages for when things do go wrong.

The customer really wants no part of this, even if it saves them a few bucks upfront on a purchase. They want good customer service and they are willing to pay a little more for it. Small businesses know this.
